Silver bullet ((What does the silver bullet do?
Silver bullet. In folklore, a bullet cast from silver is often the only weapon that is effective against a werewolf, witch, or other monsters. The term is also a metaphor for a simple, seemingly magical, solution to a difficult problem: for example, penicillin was a silver bullet that cured many bacterial infections.
What’s the meaning of the phrase ‘Silver bullet’?
A direct and effortless solution to a problem.
What’s the origin of the phrase ‘Silver bullet’?
We now use the term ‘silver bullet’ to refer to an action which cuts through complexity and provides an immediate solution to a problem. The allusion is to a miraculous fix, otherwise portrayed as ‘waving a
You cannot help something that you don’t know what causes it…
Thoreau thinks misplaced value is the cause: We feel a void in our lives, and we attempt to fill it with things like money, possessions, and accolades.
I think that the truth is deeper than that.
“The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so
the necessary may speak.” – Hans Hoffman
Things are never how the mass of men want them to be. Not the way they want to feel, not what they want to do and not what they want to have.
Money is never enough. Or time… Or fun is never fun enough. Not enough love. Not enough respect. Not enough of anything.
On yesterday’s grocery shopping trip (I don’t have
Some mornings I have nothing to say. I am likely running on empty.
Two reasons, two causes, two energy leaks:
1. reading something that has no substance to fill me up ((I am reading a book that Amazon readers rated an average 4.7 stars (out of five) and it is like eating candy or Chinese food… empty “calories” that use your energy instead of giving you some. I have found that reviews can’t be trusted. If 99% of humanity, even readers, are sheep, then their reviews are reviews by sheep… Do I want to read what the sheep likes? No. But at the same time I just finished reading five books by another writer, same star rating, and I learned soooooooo much, I felt sad wh
Being sure. Cocksure ((Definition of cocksure

2 : marked by overconfidence or presumptuousness : cocky

Everyone I know feels smart, or at the minimum smarter than the next person.
But does the quality of your life depend on how smart you feel?
The fallacy that has somehow replaced looking at how much people see accurately, what they do, what results they produce in the world, with how they feel about themselves.
When you look at the world, your world, the world at large, you mostly see what you recognize (rightly or wrongly, from the past), and maybe, occasionally, you are forced to notice st
The brain that changes itself is a book I read in 2011… And today I watched the documentary… and let you also see it.

Why have I been thinking about brain plasticity/neuroplasticity?
Because I have been intrigued by the fact that in this recent illness I could clearly see the things that were happening inside my gut, and what was the next step to bring myself back to health.
Had I gone to a doctor, I would be dead.
Why? Because doctors, unless they cut you open, can’t see… they can only see what they understand, and they can only see with their eyes… most of them, at least. Internists, definitely.
Where did this humanity-wide phenomenon of being so weak… living like a putz come from?
Putz: putz
noun
1. a stupid or worthless person.
2. vulgar slang: a limp dick.
verb: putz; engage in inconsequential or unproductive activity.
origin: 1960s: Yiddish, literally ‘penis.’
I meant to share student essays on how self-created rules keep them alienated from themselves, keep them playing safe and dead… not joyful, not accomplished, not living a life worth living.
Then I changed my mind.
I had two calls, where I was training, each, a person to take on a practice to activate the capacity to be with unpleasant, bothersome, disturbing feelings and actions. To be a
From time to time I watch an animated feature movie on Netflix.
Those movies have the most clues for inner world patterns of all the movies… even though they are clearly designed to distribute memes… to train the next generations to become sheep.
But the artists that make the movies unwittingly, or defiantly, place some fundamental guidance and truth in those movies.
So it is with this little movie: Leap. (In other languages it is called the Ballerina)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDuCKktXTo8
It’s about a little orphan girl who lives in an orphanage, but dreams about becoming a dancer… a ballet dancer. She escapes the orphanage and goes to Paris to enroll in the famed ballet institute… to fulfill on her
I have been intensely curious why something with a 7~10% truth value would make a difference for people who read it, study it, practice it, apply it to their lives.
Ultimately we are talking about 90-93% untruth… and yet. People report results… in the testimonials.
If we look, the world at large is a dark, foggy place with hordes of ignorant, mislead, slothful people.
The average truth value of what is known… meaning accurate knowledge about the world, is less than 1%. ((Truth value is a percentage number that tells to what degree the particular piece of information contains the whole truth, multiplied by the errors and mistaken assumptions, unproven theories, and such.
Finding a fulfilling career can sometimes feel impossible. … according to Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio. If you are one of the people who is complaining that you don’t know how to get that… here is the first step is clearly setting your goals.
“Your choice of goals will determine your direction,”
“There is always a best possible path. Your job is to find it and have the courage to follow it,”
