Thought experiments: the wise’s way to learn, the wise’s way to win in life

einstein thought experiment

  • The stupid makes the same mistake, over and over, expecting different results.
  • The normal person eventually learns from his mistakes, but he first has to make them, a few times…
  • The wise person learns from other people’s mistakes.

Did you notice that we are not talking here about IQ? About ability?

No, the behavior ascribed to the stupid and the behavior of the wise can and often come from the same IQ.

The ability to do things differently can’t be accessed without a modicum of humility. Modicum means: a little bit.

Humility is a capacity, an attitu

One reason you have no peace inside… And how you could…

awarenessI just discovered that the version of the Freecell game is “forgiving”, i.e. you can go back more than one step… “start over again” without a penalty point.

This makes the game an even better modeling tool than it used to be.

I always suspected that the first step really decides the rest of the journey… but being a Quickstart… jumping-without-thinking-type-of-person, this would not have

Self-involved or self-aware? Centering is the biggest difference.

When I am looking at winners, they are involved with something worth working for… involved, as in action about. When I am looking at you, I see you being self-involved, 90% of the time. on how to live Aikido (which … Continue reading → Related Posts: Develop your Awareness, your conscious awareness One surprise side […]

lazy-vs-learned-helplessnessLearned helplessness, this is today’s topic. The opposite of “Bring it on…!” Your life depends on which is your dominant attitude.

Which attitude will get you what you want?

No contest, I hope, learned helplessness will get you more of the same.

50% of the world’s population behaves like they can’t handle it. It is learned helplessness… it is not innate. But it feels innate…

But it is, in reality, a reflex built and initiated by parents, religion, school, and politi

Are you deserving of what you want? What is deserving anyway? And how to become deserving?

deserve what you want 67-stepsWhat is deserving? Deserving is a comparison. Comparing value to value, a person, a performance, a thing. It doesn’t come with existence. In existence you need to earn what you get. Deserve it.

Too many teachers focus on the doing, the method.

Some designate a few minutes, maybe even a few chapters to the mindset, but all in all, the pitiful results of most course is proof, that the problem is not in the doing.

One of the problems is being deserving.

There are two ways to look at deserving:

  1. the capacity to be someone who accepts what is coming to them, instead of running away, blaming themselves, or thinking poorly of themselves.

What makes soap operas addictive? What are YOU hooked on?

got-its-hooks-in-youVery “interesting” experience. I watched the first year of Dexter, and although I wanted to watch all episodes, the first year was not addictive.

But I had a premonition about the rest of the series.

Made up by skilled television writers, I knew it was going to be something dangerous to my well-being.

Unneeded complications, many different side-story lines, all dramatic and irrelevant, all stories I would not watch Netflix for. But all of these side-stories had a claw as sharp as the tiny hooks of burr… of v

Activism, reforms, revolution…

demostration, reforms, revolution, protestDid you know that every revolution has been, historically, just a re-shuffling of who is going to have power over who?

When I first read Osho’s book, Rebellion, Revolution and Religiousness, I actively worked on understanding.

In Hungary we learned a lot more history than American students, and I personally have seen revolution, and reform and all that never changed anything on the long run.

A lot of people repeat Osho’s words: he is very eas

You don’t have to deserve something to be deserving

agnosticLet me ask you something: do you have to deserve a body? Did you have to deserve to be able to read?

No. Deserving is much more basic, and much more profound than that kind of deserving, which would equate the word with earning.

Earning is a mercantile world’s word: it measures your work, or your merchandise against the asking price… earning.

But deserving is different, regardless how crazy that word drove me when I was a kid. My kid brother whining that he deserved whatever he was whining about.

I didn’t think I deserved anything, so he asserting that he de

Liar liar pants of fire

redpill.bluepillSome people lie more than others. But all people lie… Lying by commission and lying by omission.

Facebook is nauseatingly full of lies and liars. You lie to your loved ones and you lie to yourself. You lie because it seems the kind thing to do, you lie because it is no big deal… but it is… to your inner self… and then you pay the price. This article explains how.

It’s obviously not my article… but it will do…
