It’s New Year’s day. Billions of people give and get strokes… ((A stroke (in Transactional Analysis) is a unit of social transaction. A hug. A nod. A smile. A hello, a thank you, a “how are you?”, or an f… you…. these are all social transactions. The more you get the less your spine shrivels up on you…
Experiments show that babies stop thriving if they have insufficient social transactions… Other experiments how that rats are the same way. But the most surprising thing is: for a rat (and I guess for a human) an electric shock, a slap on the face, and insult also count as a stroke… preventing their spine from shriveling up.
My personal interpretation is: as long as life tells you you exist, you want
I woke up with a question: how do you build a latticework to hang all your knowledge on?
I have built a latticework, but I did not do it consciously. I just noticed that I had it and others didn’t.
As usual I wrote down the question before i went to sleep last night, but the answer wasn’t there this morning. Only the question. Urgently.
So I came to my computer, and the first link I clicked took me to an answer. Maybe THE answer. No accidents there… I clicked on a link on a website I normally don’t click on anything.
Like with any diet, both the what and the how are crucially important.
I’ll show you later in this article, that even if you eat the right things, if you eat wrongly, the how, you won’t feel good… you won’t get well. You won’t be present to life.
And so it is with your Netflix diet as well.
Here is how I watch Netflix…
I watch only stuff that will teach me the skills by pointing me to the capacities I could distinguish and then practice. I even take notes!
Whenever I see something noteworthy, I stop and contemplate it for minutes… long minutes. I consider Netflix my mentor…
The first series I watched was Medium.
I learned from it a lot. I learned that her first inkling wa
If investing 10 years in service of learning a profession, learning an art would make you a winner… then there would be a lot of winners. A lot more than there are…
There must be something more that most people don’t know or don’t do…
…and neither do or know their mentors, their trainers, their managers, their teachers. (( I am watching, currently, a South Korean series, Misaeng, about a boy who is proof to what I
As a mad scientist, my job is to distinguish the “things” that are in your way of direction, in your way of clarity, and to devise ways for you to go around them or through them. One tool that has proven invaluable is isolation. Isolating what you want to see. Seeing it by itself. So […]
According to Kabbalistic wisdom, the soul is not active in any of us until a certain age. 12 for girls and 13 for boys.
The soul’s job is to cause character, the soul’s job is to help you find out who you are. The Self.
Many of you have not managed to distinguish and build a Self.
A Self is your “I” that is independent and defensible from other people’s opinion, and from even your own opinion of you when you make mistakes.
I know this is a mouthful, so let me elaborate:
First aspect of a strong self: You have a strong Self, and someone says you are stupid, or you are brilliant… and your Self doesn’t get shaken up by that. Doesn’t feel a
You need to get better, maybe even good at it. ((Unless you are a cat person and willing to risk that only people who can’t connect to anyone else will connect to you.
By the way, this may not be true for cats… Cats are a lot smarter than that.))
So here are a few “memes” I picked today.
When you distinguish something, the whole world seems to rotate around the thing you just distinguished, so feedback showed up everywhere.
And I got acknowledged by two people on the trip to the grocery store… so I am getting better too… lol.
OK, here are the pictures…. almost…
What should you do with them?
First off figure out, feel why they are feedback. To whom? Does the feedback apply to you? Are you the one giving it, or you could have gotten it your self?
Have you been ignoring it?
Is there a way you could take it a guidance?
Guidance to what?
You want to ask the question: Do I want to be the kind of person who needs this feedback?
But this hidden agenda, to profit from every interaction, at your expense is not limited to the internet, it is just easier to see the dynamic there. It is harder to see it in person to person interactions, with every single person you interact with, or in books, articles, organizations, charity, politics, or people and their pets.
And it is hardest to see in yourself.
I am not condemning it: it seems that “desire for the self alone” is having a new renaissance, and you either don’t notice it, or are in a conspiracy for “I won’t tell on you, if you won’t tell on me.”
I am a person who is well trained to help people create a context for their lives, for their relationships, for their businesses… a context, words, a spea
Spirituality, finding your way, finding your self, the path to living a life worth living use different tools from science, schools, the mind, and ordinary thinking.
Not just different tools, but tools used differently.
If you haven’t found what you are seeking… if your seeking has taken you on a wild goose chase only to find nothing of value for yourself… then you owe it to yourself to learn to use the tools and to use them in new ways.
My very first exposure to this was 31 years ago, in Hebrew, and I was shamed right after I got the exposure… so I don’t even know if anything came out of it, because I cried for two hours.
