Preamble: You can follow me down the rabbit hole. You can do it… The only question is: will you think it worth your while?
I know I have said it before, lots of times, but I will say it again, but slightly differently this time. So bear with me: the reward will be unbelievable!
When something isn’t working, there is something you don’t know.
Said in another way:
When something isn’t working (the way you expected it to work), you can be sure that there is something you don’t know or can’t see.
Now, when you hear this sentence, you will never think about your mindset. You’ll never think that your thinking is wrong. That your life philosophy is wrong.
The hardest pull to resist is the pull of your “how” nature. Or what type of activity do you rush into… headfirst… That activity can be four kinds… four conative types, four types of conative actions… reading, planning, action, and execution.
Scientific name for your “how” is Conation. It is innate, and it is NOT changeable.
Regardless… I have been looking at taming my own… I find that it is not tamable. It is what it is.
But I have come to suspect that what you do after you do what your Conation makes you do is when the magic happens.
You see, all people belong to three types. People who make things happen, people who watch things happen, and people who wonder what happened. But
Parents are not trained educators. They don’t allow you to be a child: they only care about themselves… not you, no matter how much they pretend, even to themselves. You, as a parent, are the same way…
You would be better off living in a children’s home where everyone is trained in personal growth.
Because parents are much like those fraudulent personal growth, get rich, get well and thin, “take a tablet and become forever young/pain free/etc.” marketers.
Why? I guess a stupid person cannot teach another to be smart.
What is smart? It is smart to Learn from Life. Life has been around, successfully, way longer than you and me.
With some movies I ponder for years why I liked it.
One of these movies is The Princess Bride. Why do I love The Princess Bride? Why do I watch it a few times a year, especially when my energy level is low?
Because, for me, the movie is about persistence. It’s about working towards something remote and maybe even impossible, and yet…
There are a ton of amazing quotable sayings in that movie… here is one:
Buttercup: You mock my pain!
Man in Black: Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.

I like everything in the movie, but get especially energized by the Spaniard. Afte
“To get what you want, you have to deserve what you want. The world is not yet a crazy enough place to reward a whole bunch of undeserving people.“
I am continuing the inquiry into curiosity… the intrinsic motivation of humans… how you lost it, how to rekindle it… and what might be in the way.
I am going to use myself, because curiosity is so rare, and so relatively unconscious, unobserved, and unacknowledged, that I don’t even know who I could ask about their own experience… Let’s hope that this state of affairs will change soon.
The hectic, information driven culture in which we live, where everyone considers themselves eligible to post
Here are 15 questions. They are not easy questions. It will take a little looking, a little pondering to answer them. Maybe even asking others… when the question asks for that. I have some 50 more where these came from… … Continue reading →
I watched and followed the first Metabolic Prime workout videos.
He said something interesting that I want to expand on: resting is part of working out.
Now, I don’t know much about working out, but I do have some experience… This article won’t be about working out though…
I live on the top of a hill. When I moved here 13 years ago, I could walk down, around the hill, and up again, on a different street, in 12 minutes. I clocked it.
Today, due to aging, pain, and lack of exercise, it takes me 3-4 times longer. A big deal.
So when I signed up to the senior exercise class, I was praying that I could get back up the hill, on my own power… but took money with me for a cab for security.
It’s eerie how soul correction that is calculated from your date of birth and zodiac signs, calculated from just your birthday can be so very accurate in their core.
By core I mean your base nature. What you are inclined to do, the attitude you are inclined to have.
My horoscope for the next weeks or so… by Rob Brezsny: VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Pike’s Peak is a 14,115-foot mountain in Colorado. It’s not a simple task to trek to the top. Unless you’re well-trained, you might experience altitude sickness. Wicked thunderstorms are a regular occurrence during the summer. Snow falls year-round. But back in 1929, an adv
Sometimes I get really lucky. And if I am ready, prepared, open, and eager for the gift, I can get it, harvest it, and life becomes brighter, by a lot. Clearer… by a lot.
This is what happened to me this morning.
I got up at 5:20. The other option was to sleep another hour and a half… and oversleep… So I got up. Better sleep less than more (read my Depression article to see why.)
Chilly morning… sweater and pants, big glass of Energized Water… I am ready for my email… And no, I don’t stretch, I don’t exercise, I don’t meditate… I go to my email and connect. Connect to All-of-it and to my people.
The first email is from a woman who is disappointed in me because I didn’t provide
